Florencia Menconi
Florencia Menconi is an Argentine mezzo-soprano based in Basel, known for her richly colored, expressive voice and wide-ranging repertoire fromthe Middle Ages to contemporary music, with a focus on Renaissance and Baroque works. Her distinctive timbre blends mezzo warmth with soprano clarity, supported by a contralto extension that adds versatility across solo and ensemble settings.Trained at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, she studied with Rosa Domínguez and Ulrich Messthaler. A background in drama, dance, and a deep interest in philosophy enrich her interpretive depth. She is a core member of Graindelavoix, Le Filigrane, and Domus Artis, and collaborates with ensembles including La Cetra, Gli Angeli Genève, Huelgas Ensemble, and Voces Suaves. Her solo work spans major sacred and operatic repertoire, and her discography include recordings with Graindelavoix, Cantus Modalis, and Da Tempera Velha, with a new album featuring Viennese oratorio arias forthcoming.
